Textil Bezerra de Menezes began to operate in 1981, with 42,000 spindles and one of the most advanced equipment of the country to that time, producing cotton yarns and mixed combed cotton / polyester, combed and open-end. TBM S.A Industria Textil was created in 1984, beginning its activities in 1989 with the same number of spindles and dedicating its production to the cotton yarns. In 1997 the project Textil Filati S.A began, an unit of production of finished inked knits.

The Group today has a modernity profile that translates other aspects for the investments accomplished in the last years. At the same time to the project Filati (that required investments about US$ 12 million), we began in 1997 a total modernization of the unit Textil Bezerra de Menezes, requesting an investment of US$ 18 million and involving the totality of the factory. At the end of the modernization project, we obtained a much more controlled process, highly automated, which was directly reflected in the quality of the finished product; the measured productivity in ton/employee/month increased in 70%. Today we produce 1,800 ton /month, besides 200 ton /month of another industry in the state of Pernambuco, production destined to the market. Such numbers assure us the market leadership, in placement of yarns in the country. Still in 1997, the Systems of Quality of units Textil Bezerra de Menezes and TBM S.A Industria Textil were certified according to standard ISO 9002, being DNV - Det Norske Veritas our certifying entity.

A new program of vertical integration of the group began with the following premises:

Adding value to the product and reducing the influence of raw material to the cost of final product, once cotton is an international commodity with price controlled by NY stock exchange and possibly few individual negotiation.

Reducing tributary charge, a possible fact for the Brazilian legislation in cases of vertical integration of productive processes.

Working at acclimatized atmosphere and counting with modern equipment, Filati is capable to produce 300 tons / month of dyed knit, assisting to the markets in north and northeast of Brazil and external market, as well. The project Filati allows to expand capacity of up to four times its current scale. We began in march, the operation of a store that sells own products and it can be the precursor of a franchising system.

To boldly assist Mercosul, where we see as natural extension of our national market, we set up a branch in Argentina, decreasing of ten to one day the medium period of attendance of orders for that area; with the same intention, we established a deposit of yarns in Curitiba – Parana - Brazil.

The operational results are backed by internal administration. In 1997, we were favored with "Premio SESI de Qualidade no Trabalho", prize granted by SESI with base in its researches accomplished with the employees.

Diversifying the activities and growing for a global economy, the Group invests attentions in IRB Empreendimentos Imobiliarios, a company working with real state releases of high level. We began in 1997 the construction of Melia Comfort Fortaleza, a flat with the chancela Melia, hotel trade mark recognized in the whole world and present in 25 countries, with more than 200 units of hotels in several categories.

A complete success of sales, we have available few units among 136 that compose the building, that stands out for the beauty and size in a particularly privileged place.
